About
JD Sculpture is a one-man-shop based in Orem, Utah (USA). Joy is a maker/tinkerer for life. He worked in software development/architecture for nearly two decades in the SF Bay Area while teaching himself hands-on operation of tools and machinery. He made stuff with wood for many years before settling with steel as the primary medium. Metal sculpture sales took off in 2020 and he is a full-time metal artist since 2025. Primary focus is in abstract geometric sculptures that reflect nature and life. Masters in Computer Science by education but the appreciation for sculpture and visual arts stemmed from schooling in Rabindranath Tagore's ashram in Santiniketan, India. He is looking forward to developing his portfolio and experience in building large scale public artwork.
Joy's special interest lies in mixing math, computer science, nature, and human life into works of sculpture that make us pause and reflect. He loves working with machinery and always tries to maximize the use of his limited warehouse space.
Current capabilities include design of original artwork in 3D CAD, sometimes to the specification of customer and then producing it with various methods including CNC plasma cutting, bending (magnetic or press brake), roll forming, punching, shearing, to name a few.
JD Sculpture originally started as ADVMAKER (adventurer + maker) during the pandemic. Joy likes a few adventure activities as well as tinkering with machines, hence the name.
